Disparate Undulations

Ripples in the stream of consciousness *

This is not a blog per se, but is to serve as a catch-all for those random, disconnected thoughts occurring throughout the day.

There's no predetermined format and the postings are random with no implied regularity.

Comments are not enabled; it's really not that kind of blog.

Surfing blogs looking for something intelligent and interesting can be tiresome. But today, I ran into several ...all inter-connected. A link from one led to another which had a link to yet another. So there are some interesting people out their with something to say ...something I would want to read.

I'm sit here languishing over my third cup of Earl Grey and I start to wonder, "Who is this Earl Grey anyway". A quick googling brings up the name of a Charles Grey who was later made an Earl. So "Earl" is a title and not a first name. hmmmm! The tea was name after him, but there's no reason given. Was it some kind of honor, was it the way he liked his tea, was it just some sycophant's attempt to get within his good graces? I could pursue this further, but nah, I'll just enjoy the tea.

Actually, it's not fog but overcast. The sun made a valiant effort and broke through for an hour or so, but eventually retreated in defeat. The cloud cover is very high and although mono-tonal, it's quite bright, so the day is not at all gloomy ...just not sunny.

another grey day
but I love San Francisco
in spite of the fog

King Kong was a great disappointment. It was entertaining and all that, but I was unable to suspend belief for the full three hours. After the Rings trilogy, I expected so much more from Peter Jackson. Let's face it, if a 50-foot gorilla swung you around in the midst of battling, not one but three t-rexes, don't you think there'd be some bodily damage. And the chase scene with the stampeding brontasaurii... Like I said, entertaining, but disappointing.

I'm voicing my "thumbs down" here, and not when I return the disc to my neighbor; that would just be rude. (He doesn't read my blog.)

the trip was too long
I should have taken a cab
I sure am tired

I had an errand to run early this morning and didn't want to deal with all the commuters on public transportation, so I decided to walk. I can always use the exercise. It was a good walk, 36 blocks roundtrip (16 of which were in the SOMA area where the blocks are almost double the length of regular city blocks). The trip included a stop at Safeway on the way back.

Now that I've arrived back home, I realize perhaps I overdid it. My back is sore; my legs and feet were aching, and since I hadn't eaten breakfast, I have a hungar headache. My first inclination is to take a nap ...but I only just got outta bed a few hours ago. I should eat something, but I'm too tired. Maybe after I sit here awhile.

All that being said, it is a beatiful day.
