Disparate Undulations

Ripples in the stream of consciousness *

This is not a blog per se, but is to serve as a catch-all for those random, disconnected thoughts occurring throughout the day.

There's no predetermined format and the postings are random with no implied regularity.

Comments are not enabled; it's really not that kind of blog.

As with all things new, I've started peaking under the hood of this new blogger format to see how it ticks. This new template is a wee bit more complex and will prove to be quite the challenge for me to mess around with.

I thought I'd start a new blog ...just to test run the new features... for my production log. I could keep it private, or not. Anyway, I thought the feature of categorizing posts by topic would be useful in isolating the different things made. Also, I'm kinda intrigued by the hierarchical sidebar menus.

Okay, so I'm off on a new obsession. But then I hit a road block. I can't really delve into it yet; they've not made it compatible with Safari. Okay, I could work on it on my PC, but...

I know beta testing is necessary to get all the bugs out, and there are gonna be bugs. But that's the one thing about this whole electronic industry that I hate. Because of competition, coming up with the "next best thing", and vying for that elusive market share, they never perfect a product (or software) before they're off with something new ...that's buggy and needs constant tweaking. And before they finally get it right, they're off on the next project. So consequently there is also some small minority which ends up with the shit end of the stick. But who cares, as long as the majority is kept amused.

Blogger's done it. In their attempt to be "all things to all people" they've launched the new platform (which is still in beta). The purpose, I suspect, was to afford all those who couldn't master html the opportunity to "customize" their blogs. Upon reading about this new platform, I realized that all the accounts were eventually going to be switched over to this new version, so I went ahead and did it ...to get it over with. This entailed opening a "Google" account. aargh!

As I expected, when I made the change ...something that couldn't be "undone", I realized that several [minor] things went "askew" with the formatting of my three blogs that are still in the old format. So, I spent several hours tweaking them ...again... to undo the undesired effects of the change-over ...like getting rid of that unsightly navigation bar.

But in the end all went well, so it actually turned out to be quite "entertaining".

Funny thing about the power of suggestion. Just last night I viewed the movie "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" ...supposedly based on a true story. One of the plot points was that these demons manifested at 3:00 AM (the witching hour) and were accompanied by the smell of something burning. Well, the movie was entertaining enough and when it was over, I gave little thought to the reality or possibility of demonic possession.

Then during the night, I awoke to make one of my several trips to the john ...this fuckin' prostate. Anyway, after I finished peeing and returned to bed by way of the frige to get something to drink, I noticed that it was 3:00 AM. Okay, so far no biggie, but as I lie there about to go back to sleep, I noticed the smell of something burning. Ha-ha you say. Well, so did I, at the absurdity of the coincidence, but I did get up to check it out. There was nothing. I returned to bed and, no, I didn't expect to be visited by any demons ...or did I? During the fifteen or so minutes before I drifted off to sleep, my very active imagination was having a field day, and I found myself reacting to every creek, and pop audible in the dead quiet of the night.

I awoke this morning without incident, so I guess the demon(s) found me to be an unlikely host.
